Functional earthing - Why & How

Functional earthing and functional bonding of electronic system (often called as isolated earthing / clean earthing / noiseless earthing / separate earth etc.) is to ensure proper functioning of electronics and communicating systems. (defined as earthing for purposes other than electrical safety). It is created by connecting the functional earth terminal of the equipment to an isolated earthing arrangement, but finally connected to protective earth through a single point.

The following videos will explain the method to make a functional earthing and protective earthing in an installation. Technical details for functional earth such as topologies for a typical application and the continuity resistances are not included in the video, but available in our other blogs.

Note: connecting functional earth to a separate earth electrode is WRONG and may create failures in the electronic installation.
